Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Creative Team
DIRECTOR – Peter Jorgensen

Hello friends – here’s a few things I thought I’d share about me:
I’ve been involved professionally in musical theatre for 25 years – first as an actor, then as a director/choreographer, producer, writer, composer, and always as an educator. I am endlessly fascinated by the integration of music and movement to tell stories. As a young singer/musician inspired by the musicals of Stephen Sondheim I decided to go to NYC to study musical theatre. After studying, living, and working there for a little over three years, I returned to Vancouver to be close to family. My career here began as an actor in productions of Forever Plaid (Gateway), Lies and Legends (Belfry), and She Loves Me (Arts Club) where I met my wife, and partner in all things, Katey Wright. I began directing about twenty years ago, cutting my teeth with local amateur societies before founding (with Katey) Patrick Street Productions – a company devoted to chamber productions of contemporary musical theatre. We did some really incredible things together like commissioning, developing, and premiering Best Laid Plans: a Musical, or producing the Western Canadian Premiere of The Light in the Piazza (Jessie Award for Outstanding Production). I’ve also worked as a freelance director around the country on shows like Les Miserables (Chemainus Theatre), Fiddler on the Roof (Persephone Theatre), or Avenue Q (Arts Club). In 2002 I founded the Arts Club Musical Theatre Intensive, a summer program for youth seeking professional level training. I’ve been coaching singers privately for 25 years, I’ve led master classes for pre-professionals and professionals alike, and always enjoy adjudicating music and drama festivals. I love good books, good doggos, and goooood chocolate! It has been a privilege to work, play, learn, and grow alongside so many talented and amazing humans over the years, here on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Halkomelem speaking people. I look forward to meeting you.
CHOREOGRAPHER – Keri Minty
Keri Minty is a seasoned choreographer/director/movement and dance educator based on the unceded territories of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking peoples. With a passion for bringing stories to life through movement, Keri’s has worked with numerous theatre and dance companies. Currently on faculty at Capilano University in the theatre program, she continues to be a diverse and collaborative artist. TUTS has been a big catalyst for her successes, and she is delighted to be back for this show centred on imagination and hope.

MUSIC DIRECTOR – Sean Bayntun

A descendent of Ukrainian, Austrian, and British immigrants, Sean grew up, and currently resides, on the ancestral and unceded lands of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples
(Burnaby).
Having grown up steeped in classical music, Sean made his orchestral debut at 16 with the White Rock Symphony, and at 18 performed as a soloist with the VSO. He graduated from UBC with a BMus before attending Rice University (Houston) on full scholarship studying with Dr. Jon Kimura Parker. With Dr. Parker’s encouragement to explore genres and performance beyond classical piano, Sean played Otto in Design for Living and music directed Bat Boy: the Musical.
Returning to Vancouver in 2006, Sean joined a pop/rock band as a keyboardist/writer and began freelancing as a session and performance musician. He’s played in dozens of bands and is currently an active member of Leisure Club and DAñSE.
In 2009, he music directed Songs for a New World (Not Another Musical Co-op), and the following year was the MD for PSP’s production of Bat Boy. As an MD, his many nominations and awards include The Wild Party (Pint-Size Tall), The Light in the Piazza and Herringbone (PSP). Recent work includes Starwalker (Raven Theatre) and Anne of Green Gables & Oliver! (Gateway), Parade (Raincity) The Prom & CATS (TUTS).
Some of his first theatre work was with Theatre Under the Stars, where he was rehearsal pianist, orchestra player, and eventual guest conductor (The King and I, Big!, and Oklahoma!), and it is an absolute blast to get to work in Malkin Bowl once again!
