ABOUT THE SHOW
Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.”

Ariel, King Triton’s youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

NOTE ON CASTING
The team is seeking versatile triple theatre performers to animate a wide range of vibrant ensemble characters. Tap dance skills are an asset.

CAST REQUIREMENTS

Ariel
King Triton’s youngest daughter, Ariel, is endlessly fascinated by the human world and longs to be part of life above the sea. She is a strong-willed, kindhearted, and somewhat naive mermaid who is driven by an irrepressible curiosity to be part of a life other than her own.
Vocal range: Gb5 – Ab3

Prince Eric
A human prince with little interest in taking the crown. Handsome, affable, and adventurous. After Ariel saves him, he becomes obsessed with finding the mysterious girl with the beautiful voice.
Vocal range: G4 – B2

Grimsby
Prince Eric’s loyal (and stuffy) British guardian and moral compass. Poised and proper, Grimsby is constantly trying—without much success—to steer Eric toward his royal responsibilities.
Vocal range: C4 –  C3

Flounder
A young, energetic fish and Ariel’s devoted best friend. Rambunctious yet wary of the dangers above and below the water, Flounder’s loyalty to Ariel pushes him to be braver than he thinks he can be.
Vocal range: G4 – A2

Scuttle
A delightfully dishevelled seagull who considers himself an expert on all things human. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and hilariously misinformed, Scuttle is the world’s most enthusiastic amateur anthropologist and tap dancer.
Vocal range: G4 -C3

King Triton
King of the Sea and father to Ariel and her sisters.  Regal and commanding on the surface, Triton is also a loving, overprotective single father, haunted by the loss of his wife and consumed by fear of the human world.
Vocal range top: F4 – Ab2

Sebastian
Advisor to King Triton, perpetually frazzled but also the life of the party. Sebastian is a musical genius and a natural showman whose job of keeping Ariel safe is both his greatest burden and greatest joy.
Vocal range: C5 –  Bb2

Flotsam & Jetsam
Slippery, sinister eels and Ursula’s devoted lackeys. Oily charm is their speciality. They’ll say whatever you want to hear. Strong dance/movement ability required.
Flotsam: Vocal range: C5 – E3
Jetsam: Vocal range: A4 – B2

Ursula
The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Ursula is vengeful, flamboyant, and deliciously wicked. She will use any means necessary to seize power, but behind her villainy is a wounded pride that fuels her rage.
Vocal range: C5 – Eb3

Chef Louis
The French palace chef, diabolical and passionate. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for kitchen theatrics and chopping in rhythm.
Vocal range: A4 –  Bb2

Mersisters (Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana):
Triton’s daughters and Ariel’s often-overlooked sisters. Each is vibrant and distinct, but frequently caught in the ripple effect of Ariel’s well-meaning but impulsive decisions.

Ensemble
Crew Members (Pilot, Sailors); Sea Creatures; Gulls; Maids; Chefs; Animals; Princesses.
