About Theatre Under the Stars
at Malkin Bowl

Theatre Under the Stars is located at 610 Pipeline Road, near X̱wáýx̱way in Stanley park in Vancouver, BC.

This historic outdoor theatre is on the ancestral lands of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-waututh peoples.

How to Get to the Theatre

By Transit:

The closest bus stop to the venue is the Stanley Park loop. This is the last stop for the number 19 bus before it travels back to Metrotown. To plan your bus trip, please visit translink.ca

After the bus drops you off, walk south towards the Pavilion building. Be mindful to use the crosswalk when leaving the bus loop.

As you walk from the bus loop, you will see the back side of a large building through the trees. This is the Stanley Park Pavilion. Keep walking south down the path that runs along the east side of the Pavilion.

When you have walked passed the Pavilion, the Theatre Under the Stars entrance and the Box Office will be on the far side of the garden and lawn to your right. You can get to the Box Office by either by following along the path or by walking in front of the Pavilion.

By Bike:

There are many bike paths that will bring you to Theatre Under the Stars at the Malkin Bowl. If you are using an online map app to help you navigate, we strongly recommend that you use our address, 610 Pipeline Road, as your destination.

Once here, you will be able to lock up your bike at the site itself. After our doors open at 7pm, our volunteer ushers will gladly show you where you can lock up your bikes on the site.

Parking

There are two main paid parking lots near Theatre Under the Stars at the Malkin Bowl. They are the Stanley Park Railway parking lot and the lower parking lot. Both parking lots can be accessed off Pipeline Road.

You will see signs with blue tartan, and either “Theatre Under the Stars presented by Re/Max”, or a big white “P” in a black circle on the side of the road to help identify the parking lots.

Again, if you use a map app to help you navigate, we strongly recommend that you use our address, 610 Pipeline Road, as your destination.

Those who may have mobility issues can be dropped off a few metres away from the Box Office. The drop-off area is beside the parking lot adjacent to the Stanley Park Pavilion. As there are a limited number of accessible parking stall, we strongly urge those who can to use this option.

At the Malkin Bowl

When you arrive, you will see our Box Office on the right of the entrance and our Will Call on the left. If you need to buy tickets, proceed to the Box Office and a volunteer will gladly sell you a ticket. If you have tickets that are waiting for you or have any issues with your tickets, please proceed to Will Call and someone will help you.

If you have a digital ticket or a paper print out of your ticket, you can walk directly to the entrance located between the Box Office and Will Call. One of our volunteers will scan your ticket, and you will then be in our lobby.

In the Lobby

The Theatre Under the Stars lobby is where you will find programmes, cushions, coffee, hot chocolate, the Garden Cafe, Guest Services, Museum, and our Photo Booth. Much of this is made possible by the wonderful help of our volunteers. If you have any questions or concerns, our volunteers can help you. We are very grateful for our volunteers!

When the gates open at 7pm, the lobby may get busy and loud. You are welcome to wait outside the gate in the grassy area until the seating opens at 7:30pm.

Washrooms

There are public washrooms at the Pavilion, which we encourage you to use until the seating opens at 7:30pm. The main washrooms are found down a short set of stairs on either side of the stairs to the veranda.

There is also an accessible washroom facing the parking lot adjacent to the Pavilion.

There are blue portable washrooms on site that you can use after the house opens at 7:30pm and during intermission. These washrooms are found on the right-hand side of the seating up a slight slope.

Concessions

In the lobby, you will find our coffee bar where our volunteers can sell you coffee, hot chocolate, or tea. We also have a bar where, if you are over 19 years of age, can purchase beer, wine, or coolers.

For food and cold drinks, we have our concession stand that has water, canned drinks, candy, and more.
We also have Mr. Tube Steak to serve hotdogs, bratwurst, freshly popped popcorn, and more!

You are welcome to bring food and drinks with you to your seat. All the concessions will be closed during the performance, but will be happy to serve you during the intermission.

The doors to the house will open thirty minutes before the performance is scheduled to begin. You can then go and find your seat. If you want, you can also sit on the grassy hill if you prefer.

Five minutes before the performance, our Front of House Manager will sound a bell indicating that the show is about to start. If you haven’t yet, we ask that you start making your way to your seats at this time.

Both at intermission and at the end of the show, the house lights will be turned on. These are bright lights.

The intermission for CATS happens after the song, “Grizabella: The Glamour Cat”.
The intermission for School of Rock happens after the song, “Stick it to the Man (Reprise)”.
